As one other poster said the best planar focus is the one that has 4 lesser essence and 2 greater essence slots. You can buy this focus for planarite from the planar vendor in your main city.

You can get essences from rifts, invasions and events but the best essences cost inscribed source stones ISS plus planarite or come from raid rifts. Keep in kind you can put lesser essences in the greater slots. My advice would be not to worry much about it until you are level At 45 start doing instant adventuress and you will gain ISS and planarite. I have not leveled an alt since they added instant adventures below level 45 so I am not sure if those drop ISS or not.

Once 50 you should also do the daily raid rift quest for ISS and lesser essence drops. You usually can see people advertising each night in 50 chat. Regardless best of luck and welcome to Rift. Resistance and Valor It is often so that one sigil is not enough. Certain situations require different sigils. The main factor here is resistance or valor. In PvP, you of course would want a sigil that gives you PvP stats like valor or vengeance.

That much is obvious. For many PvE encounters, you can predict what kind of damage goes around. For example, if you're fighting a water rift, you can predict that they're going to use at least some water magic.

To counter it, you can equip a sigil that is filled with lesser essences that give water resistance. This adds a fun strategic element to gameplay. Of course, a water sigil isn't really necessary to combat a simple water rift.
